My dad has this habit of sending me e-mails. Some he writes, some from friends, some just forwards, that give me advice. At one stage I found them annoying. Now I find them endearing. And since time rushes along, I try to treasure the fact that he cares enough to make the effort.

From the e-mail he sent me today, I found an interesting, and perhaps profound, unattributed quote:

The Elenium : The Sapphire Rose

Just finished rereading the third and final volume of the Elenium. Shall probably be using the phrase "Be Nice" for the next couple of days. Yes, I'm bored.

Real Genius

Just rewatched the 1985 cult hit Real Genius.

Parts that I found hilarious:

Chris Knight: It's yet another in a long series of diversions in an attempt to avoid responsibility.

Professor Hathaway: I want to see more of you around the lab.

Chris Knight: Fine. I'll gain weight.

Chris Knight: Look at is this way. Considering the type of people you are and the environment you're in, you have to admit the strong probability that this may be the only chace you ever have in your entire lives... to have sex.

Chris Knight: Don't eat that.

Girl: Why?

Chris Knight: Don't you know that eating that stuff can give you very large breasts?

(looks at her)

Chris Knight: Oh my God, I'm too late!

Major Carnagle: Where's the Laser?

Prof Hathaway: It's coming!

Major Carnagle: It's coming? Ha! It's not even breathing hard.

The Elenium : The Ruby Knight

Re-reading a series that's been one of my favorites: The Elenium by David Eddings. Just finished the Diamond Throne, now reading the Ruby Knight. Should start on the Sapphire Rose tomorrow.
